HISTORY

1965 FOUNDATION

Started its activities as a commercial enterprise, the foundation of which was laid in 1965 by the first generation representatives of the family.
1987 LOCAL COAL MARKETING

Started domestic coal production and marketing with the brand “Saitoğulları” in Istanbul in 1987.
1995 THE FIRST FACTORY WAS FOUNDED IN KOCAELİ

Based on its experience and knowledge gained in the sector, Safi Solid Fuel Industry and Trade Co. founded its first factory in Kocaeli Gebze in 1995 in order to operate in the imported coal sector.
2001 DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED

Safi Solid Fuel started to act as the distributor of the Russian coal producer, which is known all around the world and which has the largest lignite reserves.
2003 BRIQUETTE FACTORY

The Briquette Factory which was initially founded in Gebze in 2003 was then developed and moved to Dilovası in 2013. With the foundation of the Briquette Factory, high quality imported coal was offered to the sector.
2005 SAMSUN TERMINAL

Samsun Factory was founded in 2005. It is located on a 50,000 sqm land and has an annual screening and packaging capacity of 400.000 tons. The facility can screen 4.000 tons of coal and bag 2.500 tons of coal per day. It is the company that imports and sells the highest quantity of coals in Samsun.
2007 TRABZON TERMINAL

Trabzon Factory was founded in 2007. 2.500 tons of coal per day can be packed in the facility, which has a land of 35.000 sqm and a daily coal screening capacity of 4.000 tons. It is the most modern coal factory in the region that received the award for respect for the environment.
2008 THE FIRST SHIPPING LINE OPERATION WAS STARTED

In terms of maritime activities, the group started its first shipping line operation by acquiring ships.

“Mümtaz Amca” is our first 8.000 DWT ship that joined the Safi Maritime family in May 2008.
2009 M/V CELAL AMCA

Our 12.000 DWT ship “Celal Amca”, the second ship of the group, was designed and built in Japan as a “bulk carrier” in 2001. It joined the fleet in May 2009, one year after our ship “Mümtaz Amca”.
2010 ADANA-CEYHAN TERMINAL

Adana Terminal, which has an annual screening capacity of 700.000 tons, was founded in 2010. It is one of the most modern enterprises in the sector with a daily screening capacity of 5.000 tons of coal and packaging of 2.500 tons of coal on a land of 100.000 sqm.
2011 RANKED IN THE FORTUNE 500 LIST FOR THE FIRST TIME

Safi Solid Fuel was listed and ranked No 361 in the Fortune 500 list for the first time.
2012 ARTVİN TERMINAL

Artvin Terminal was founded in 2012 and has an annual screening and packaging capacity of 300.000 tons on a land of 30.000 sqm. The daily coal screening capacity of the facility is 3.000 tons, and its coal packaging capacity is 1.500 tons.
2013 DİLOVASI TERMINAL

Gebze Factory is one of the largest coal enterprises in Turkey with its 80.000 sqm land and 10.000 sqm indoor area and a daily screening capacity of 5.000 tons and bagging capacity of 3.000 tons of coal. As the terminal that imports and sells the highest quantity of coals in the Marmara Region, its daily briquette production capacity is 600 tons.
M/V ARİF AMCA - M/V CENGİZ AMCA

The twin ships "Arif Amca" and "Cengiz Amca", which were built as new ships at the Turkish shipyards, were launched in 2013.
2014 ESPADON TOWER

Designed by the world-renowned architects as the symbol of the Anatolian side of Istanbul; the 101-meter-high project is a single building that consists of total three blocks. Espadon Tower is used as the headquarters of the Holding.
2015 DERINCE PORT

It is first port investment of the group. The port, for which operation rights were acquired for a period of 39 years by transferring a payment in the amount of 543 million USD as a result of a privatization tender, has been operating under the name of Safi Derince International Port Management Co. since March 2nd, 2015.
2016 BEDİA SAFİ - CELAL SAFİ TUGBOATS

In 2016, the newly-built tugboats M/V Bedia Safi and M/V Celal Safi with 60 KN high maneuverability capacity joined the fleet.
2018 ÇORUM SUGAR

Çorum Sugar was acquired with the highest bid in the amount of 528 million Turkish Liras in the privatization tender held on 25 June 2018. By acquiring Çorum Sugar, Safi Holding has conveyed its success in other fields to the food sector as well.
2019 THE FIRST INVESTMENT WAS
COMPLETED IN SAFİPORT DERINCE

The first investment of Safiport Derince, which is called as the Phase-1 project, was completed with an amount of 250 million USD. With this investment, Safiport Derince has become the largest port in the region and increased its investment value to 1 billion USD.
2020 THE TUGBOAT OPERATION LICENSE WAS
OBTAINED FOR THE TEKİRDAĞ -2 REGION

Under the scope of the Class B tugboat operation license and service permit; Safiport Derince was presented the tugboat service authorization by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs for the TEKİRDAĞ-2 service area among the regions across Turkey. 3 tugboats were acquired under the names of Safi-10, Safi-11 and Safi-12.
2021 RANKED NO 203 IN THE FORTUNE 500 LIST

Safi Solid Fuel, which was included into the Fortune 500 list in 2012 for the first time, continues to be listed since then. It is currently ranked No 203 as a result of a rising trend.
2021 AN ORDER HAS BEEN PLACED
FOR A NEW-BUILT TUGBOAT

Safi Maritime Services Co. has placed an order for the most powerful tugboat in its class in the Gulf of İzmit. The tugboat that has a towing force of 75 tons will be the 6th tugboat in the fleet of Safi.
PURCHASING A NEW LAND IN IZMIR ALIAĞA

Safi Holding purchased a land of 60 decares in İzmir Aliağa to conduct logistics activities.
